| I received a new iPod for christmas this year. My parents asked if I wanted an iPod mini or a regular iPod and I knew the difference, I wanted more hard drive storage space so I said forget the mini-ipod, cute and all but i wanna store more mp3s!!! The iPod is one of the worlds greatest inventions! |

| absolutely the best way to listen to music unless you remove it from the shipping box. AI few days after christmas, it fell 6 or 8 inches and landed on a padded table. Total failure. After speaking with Apple we were told that if we got into a collision with the car we wouldnt expect to be re-inbursed for the repair, and my answer is if I got into a 6-8 mile an hour crash I wouldnt expect catistrophic failure. It takes very little stress in order to turn this neat little gadget into a totally usless piece of refuse. Apples response was expected...we recieved a form letter stating that the problem was a result of custromer abuse. I have to tell you folks this is an extreamly sensitive and delicate unit. I would not think that these unit would last very long in the hands of a teenager. If someone carries this around in their pocket and bumps into a wall, the unit is done.
Before Apple even took a look at it, we were told that the repair would cost more than purchasing a new ipod. Before sending the unit out to Apple I carefully marked the unit. It is my opinion that the unit wasnt even opened up. It is my belief that the parts are available for an insignificant price, just not available to the public.
Heres the bottom line do not purchase one of these units without the insurance. It seems a shame that a company has so little faith in their units that the customer has to purchase insurance before opening the box, but that the way it is.
There are a lot of other units that will do similar functions as the ipod with out failing at the slighjtest bump. I would tell you to investigate your options well.
It is really too bad that a unit that is so user friendly, so nice to use and so attractive is so feable. After my experience with this ipod and Apple support I am now a steadfast IBM user for life. |
